Welcome to Carer Support South Lakes

Carer Support South Lakes is an independent, local charity and network partner of Carers Trust. We provide a range of services to support and enhance the lives of unpaid carers of all ages throughout South Lakeland.

and help us improve the lives of carers of all ages

Are you a Carer?

A Carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a parent, partner, child, relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage without their help. This could be due to age, physical or mental illness, substance misuse or disability.

There are thousands of Carers in South Lakeland. Many juggle work, school, or other commitments along with their caring role, and most don’t think of themselves as Carers, nor do they realise the range of services available to help them.

The term Carer should not be confused with a care worker, or care assistant who receives payment for looking after someone.

Do you need our support?

Many Carers face emotional and financial difficulties. Many have given up their income, education or employment prospects or pension rights to care for someone. Others attempt to juggle jobs and their caring responsibilities.

Taking on a caring role can lead to feelings of isolation, frustration, depression and can result in ill health.

Access to information, emotional support, advocacy, financial support and opportunities to take a break can help manage the impact of caring on the lives of Carers.
